And so it begins. With last semester’s play, Lord of the Flies, all done, it’s finally time to dive into AVPA Theater’s big production, the spring musical. This year, it’s Chicago! Though CCHS is definitely putting on a high school version of the musical, the energetic, jazz filled performance has been in the works for several weeks now, with cast and crew all eager to do their part to chip in all that they can. With rehearsals almost everyday after school and costumes and music underway, there’s definitely no lack of effort to be found. Without further ado, your leads for the show!
Roxie Hart – Ryanne Biernat. A show-hardened theater kid, Ryanne has been doing theater for about seven years. You may recognize her as Jack from Lord of the Flies, the fall show.
Velma Kelly – Kacey Oschack. Another experienced performer, Kacey was also a lead in Lord of the Flies, playing Ralph. Kacey is also co-president of AVPA theater.
Billy Flynn – Aidan Van den Broeck. A lead in Into The Woods last school year, Aidan is no newcomer to musical theater. Aidan is also a co-president of AVPA theater, along with Kacey.
Amos Hart – Luke Moniz & Jaylen Rosado. As two equally talented actors, Luke and Jaylen have been double cast for the role, meaning they’ll both get to perform for an equal amount of shows.
As a senior, this is Ryanne’s last show. She tells me she’s feeling a bit worried about the expectations put on her since it’s her senior show and she still has a lot to do, but she hopes everything will go well.
Of course, these are only the main leads. Be sure to be on the lookout for fun, quirky side characters, and perfectly synced ensembles. Mark your calendars for shows on March 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, and 14. And don’t forget to remind any friends in the cast to break a leg!
