Sara Kennedy is Culver City High School’s new Health teacher. Her favorite thing about teaching Health is that it connects to the real world, and while it is only a semester-long class, she is really able to make an important difference in her students’ lives. She says when she was growing up, she didn’t receive as many tools in terms of health and nutrition as are available today, so it’s especially important to her that teens get the help that she would have wanted when she was younger. So far, she has enjoyed being a part of the Culver Staff and community; she recently went to a football game and was excited to see everyone back in person and enjoying themselves after a year of online learning.

Ms. Kennedy received her teaching credential in 2015 and has been teaching ever since. Before 2015, she worked in the Special Education programs of private schools. In her eyes, teaching is all about engaging her students and connecting the subject matter to her students’ real lives. One of her favorite things about teaching at CCHS is seeing everyone connecting by joining clubs or going to events.

When she’s not teaching, Ms. Kennedy loves to go to the beach, paddle board, go on bike rides, and pedal-boat at local parks. One of her favorite places to pedal-boat is at a small lake in Long Beach. All in all, the CCHS community welcomes Ms. Kennedy with open arms and looks forward to a successful first year.
