Studying from home can be distracting for many students. Siblings constantly moving around the house, slow Wi-Fi, uncomfortable study spaces and countless other disruptions are challenges many teens face. Luckily, Culver City offers a variety of comfortable, focused and relaxing cafés where students can get their work done. Here is a curated list of some of the best study spots around town, based on personal experience.

1. The Alchemist Coffee Project

This small yet aesthetically pleasing and minimalist café welcomes everyone—especially those with a heavy workload. Located next to apartment buildings and a Whole Foods, this quaint coffee shop is a great place to escape distractions and focus on getting work done. It has everything you may need while studying: fast Wi-Fi, comfortable air conditioning, a bathroom, outlets in every corner, comfy seating and, best of all, amazing matcha and coffee. The café is generally quiet, making it easy to concentrate even when you're working for several hours.

Address: 3311 S La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90016

2. WeWork

Located just outside of Downtown Culver City, this study spot is hard to miss. You’ve probably seen it while driving through the area: a tall, tilted building with windows on the ceiling. While it may seem like a private office, the space is open to the public, offering plenty of seating across the entire floor. Although it isn’t technically a café, there is an Earthbar inside the building, as well as cafes such as Homestate, Go Get Em Tiger, and Kismet Rotisserie right outside. If you prefer to work in complete silence, this spot is worth checking out. With no music playing in the background, the space is dedicated to concentration, making it a great place to tackle your work for the day.

Address: 10000 Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232

3. Village Well Books & Coffee

This café is probably the most well-known on the list. Inside, you’ll find a warm, colorful and cozy atmosphere that combines a bookstore, gift shop and coffee station. These features make this spot a popular destination for students, readers and coffee lovers, so try to arrive at a good time to secure a seat. Come in after school, grab a coffee or browse through the books, and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere this space offers.

Address:  9900 Culver Blvd #1b, Culver City, CA 90232

4. Blueys

Blueys, in Mar Vista, offers both a chill and relaxed outdoor seating area with a spacious back patio, as well as a roomy indoor area. Not to mention the menu—as it has incredible smoothies, salads and sandwiches. Although the lack of Wi-Fi makes it less convenient for completing online assignments, the spacious seating and relaxed atmosphere make it a nice place to read or work on something offline.

Address: 12825 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90066

Whether you prefer a quiet space to focus, a cozy café to read in, or a spacious patio to work from, Culver City and its surrounding areas have plenty of great options for getting work done outside of the house. Next time you need a change of scenery, grab your laptop, a notebook or a good book and give one of these study spots a try!
