Seniors displayed their civics project in the multi- purpose room on Jan. 12 as part of their government class. The projects, which students have been working on all semester, target a range of community issues. One project focused on the Natatorium, the building next to Farragut that houses the school pool which has not been used in years. Sophomore Gabriel Olmeda, who was viewing the projects said, “People are ignoring the fact that we have a pool and we’re not using it.”
Other projects focused on changing the dress code, changing the basketball rims, trying to teach about sexual harassment, and addressing nutritional problems.
In 12th grade every student in CCHS has to do a Civic Action Project through their social studies class. The Civic Action project goal is to try to attack problems within the community.
