The CCUSD Green New Deal Team has partnered with Bike Culver City to get a microgrant from the Coalition of Clean Air to host events that promote environmentally sustainable practices for clean air in our city.
Committed to making our school district more sustainable through policy and events, the CCUSD Green New Deal Team has 9 pillars that guide their advocacy for a cleaner environment: energy, education, water, waste, green purchasing, construction, green spaces, community, and transportation.
Currently, their challenge is a tote bag design contest for art students or any current CCMS/CCHS student. The design should highlight the importance of living a sustainable lifestyle related to clean air. Some ideas include using public transportation and relying less on fossil fuels, but students can interpret this theme in various ways.
The grand prize winner will get a $100 cash prize as well as a Noxgear Lighted safety vest and a tote bag with their winning design. The two runners-up get a lighted vest and a tote bag with the winning design
Designs should be submitted to [email protected] by the deadline, September 23rd at 12:00 P.M..
Looking ahead, the CCUSD Green New Deal Team will be promoting Clean Air Day on October 5th through their microgrant. They will be having a bike ride for the community to engage in cleaner modes of transportation on this date.
