Since 1964, The Robert Frost Auditorium has been the focal point of entertainment for Culver City High School. Fifty two years of hosting assemblies to dance performances, it’s provided for all. Recently, Culver City High School Administration, took it upon themselves to ‘modernize’ the beloved auditorium, in order to uphold it’s standings.
According to Chris Dunne, the head of construction, has explained how a completely new designed inner structure is to expected. For starters, more backstage space. Going from around 1,200 seats to about 1,000, it still remains the largest theatre in Culver City, even compared to Sony. Another few additions are efficient air conditioning, ticket booths, a catwalk, a black box, trophy cases, and more. It is expected to be completed around May 2018.
There was a minor delay caused by age of the Frost. A chemical known as asbestos is used to fireproof buildings as well as soundproof and typically lasts up to fifty years. Over the years, it breaks off and is treated as hazardous when it starts chipping. Luckily, the clean up process only took two weeks.
With thirty workers everyday, the Robert Frost is sure to get the face lift it truly deserves.
