Culver City High School welcomed a new Athletic Director at the beginning of the school year. Adam Eskridge, a local resident deeply rooted in Culver City, cannot wait to enhance our school’s sports program in any way he can.
Mr. Eskridge’s ties to Culver City are extensive, having attended schools within the CCUSD during his formative years. His family’s ties to the city run deep, with his mother dedicating herself as a 1st grade teacher at Farragut for over thirty years and his father serving the community as the proud third-generation owner of Culver City Flowers.
Mr. Eskridge said his family’s commitment to their flower shop has greatly influenced him. He reflects, “I learned about family coming together to get things done and supporting each other. It really shapes how I view my work today and my work ethic.”
Mr. Eskridge attributes his passion for education to witnessing the dedication of his mother and several other committed educators. “I saw their passion and love for their students, and it shaped what I wanted to do in my life.”
His return to CCUSD was not just fueled by his passion for sports education, but also by the unwavering support of his parents and wife. Furthermore, the prospect of improving CCHS for his own children, who currently attend Farragut, played a significant role in his decision.
Mr. Eskridge has always had a passion for sports. After graduating from CCHS, Mr. Eskridge attended the University of Riverside. His role as undergraduate assistant coach for the university’s basketball team made him realize he loved coaching. This led to his return to CCHS to coach the basketball team.
He said his “favorite part [of coaching] is being at all of the games and seeing our athletes succeed.” He also mentioned that he enjoys seeing students bond over sports.
Mr. Eskridge wants to see our sports department “become more digital” while also improving the physical sports facilities. “I would like to see our social media footprint grow so that we can better promote our teams, athletes and coaches.” He is toying with ideas like creating a new app or streaming sports online, but above all else, he wants to “keep highlighting the great things that are happening at CCHS not just on the court, fields, or pool but everywhere on campus!”
