“Night on Mount Olympus” Homecoming Dance

After possible rainy weather first led to its postponement in September, over 800 students attended the the homecoming dance on October 7th, 2023, enjoying a starry “Night on Mount Olympus”. The CCHS lunch patio was transformed into a scene from a Greek Mythology with white puffy clouds, beautiful golden statues, a large dragon statue, and a life-sized pegasus. Students entered “Mount Olympus” by walking through glowing arches, surrounded by fluffy clouds.

Throughout the night, the DJ played popular songs that students started dancing, singing, and jumping to, such as “Dancing Queen”, “God’s Plan”, “22”, “Whip n Nae Nae”, and “You Belong with Me”. Students formed dance circles and even started crowd-surfing while sparks were flying through the air.

There were tables set up with food, such as mini turkey sandwiches and chips. Some students, tired from dancing, sat around small tables, or lounged in low couches enjoying the food and talking with friends. Outside, there was a beautiful backdrop of vines that was perfect for taking pictures. Inside the cafeteria, students waited in a long line with anticipation, excited to take pictures at the photo booth.

At the end of the night, as the dance was coming to an end, the DJ started playing slower songs, and students pulled out their phones and started swaying with their flashlights in the air.

The homecoming dance this year was a wonderful and thrilling experience, and definitely a night to remember.
